In the 1950s song "The Jones Boy" the Mills Brothers sing about him jumping over the water bumps. But what are water bumps?

In the upper midwest we see water bumps all the time. When water collects under a field it sometimes pushes up the grass and creates a boil-like bump. Sometimes there are whole fields of these 'water bumps.'
The Mills Brothers song is the only reference to them that I have ever run across. But here in Wisconsin we see them frequently.
