I found this turtle at a flea market and brought him home. It has a round pointed beak, webbed feet, a round shell with square print about the size of a silver dollar, and has a long skinny tail. What type of turtle do I have and what does it eat?

It sounds like a terrapin to me, so it's going to need to have a little plastic pond as well as an island in it as they alternate between land and water. The size and webbed feet are the main indications. A pet shop will have boxes of food for them, and they also eat live water fleas. Sep 19 04, 7:07 AM

you can try posting a picture here: http://nature.gardenweb.com/forums/reptile/ if you take good care of it it will grow fairly big. it's just a baby right now. is it brown? if the tail is REALLY long then it could be a snapping turtle. If I were you I wouldn't buy any animal from a flea market since many times they illegally collect them. Sep 19 04, 10:28 AM
