Which is healthier, butter or margarine?

Well, that's still a matter of some debate. I happen to believe that butter is better, when consumed in moderate quantities. My father-in-law, a research chemist for Proctor and Gamble who worked in fats and oils (read margarine and margarine substitutes) has been preaching about the evils of trans-fatty acids which are present in margarine for years (at least to the family, not at the company). Also, as a cook, I far prefer butter or olive oil for use in the kitchen, far above margarine.

There are many butter substitutes on the market that have added vitamins, reduced fat and cholesterol. But nothing beats warm crusty bread smothered with real butter.
