If the 2010 U.S. Census dares to ask this question we might come up with some reliable figures for the U.S. Until then, we will have GLBTQ activists inflating the figures and traditional-values activists, such as the Family Research Institute that McGruff cites, deflating them.
Another factor in the unreliability of such estimates is the reluctance of many persons to reveal their sexual preferences, tendencies, and practices.

World-wide figures will be exceedingly difficult to come by for many years. When reading a report or estimate, always apprise yourself of who is reporting and what bias they may have.
