Angela Burdett-Coutts was the granddaughter of the banker Thomas Coutts. Dickens dedicated "Martin Chuzzlewit" to her, and she founded the National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children (NSPCC).

Yay TT! She also worked with the RSPCA and set up drinking fountains for dogs among other things.
Funnily enough, the UK's main children's charity was founded years after its main animal one.
