I've been watching this show called "Lost" on ABC and in the show there is a polar bear on a tropical island. Now, I know the show is fiction but I'd like to ask these questions: Has a polar bear been spotted in tropical climates, and can a polar bear survive in tropical climates?

do you mean "spotted" as in the wild? if so, no.
and a bear would overheat in tropical climates and die so they wouldn't live in tropical climates in the wild. (besides... it's harder to catch food)
but I've seen polar bears in zoos in mexico.

in fact, sometimes polar bears have to roll on the snow to cool down so they don't over heat... they're so well insulated!
I wish I had a coat like them during school... it's always FREEZING!

Oooh, great show! It's been speculated that the bear is a refugee from a circus that wound up on the island in question. Shipwreck or plane crash, who can say, but if Vincent survived, why not a bear?

There certainly are no native polar bears in tropical climates!
However, it is possible that a polar bear could be accidentally (or even intentionally) released into the jungle. The poor bear would probably not survive very long.

Polar bears are usually white all over (with black skin underneath. They may evolve different markings for life in tropical jungle conditions, but it's a bit soon for them to be spotted yet.....
