For states in the US, what are all the "state" items they have, such as a state flower and state bird?

Question #51541. Asked by peteygirl. (Oct 08 04 10:21 AM)

Not all states have the same amount of "items" or symbols that others do.

I think all fifty have individual state birds.

I agree with Buck540. I believe they all have bird, flower, flag, motto and tree. I remember hearing that a school was giving a lesson in government and found the state of Massachusetts didn't have a state dessert. The students had it passed that the state dessert was the Boston Cream Pie and they participated in the process.

This site has some of this info by state:

Every state has official state items, though each state does not have the same categories. They tend to be species, events, products, etc. that are prevalent or notable in that state.

A couple of other categories not already mentioned, both Maryland and Virginia have state dogs, and Maryland also has a state insect, a state crustacean, state reptile, state dinosaur and a state boat.
