    Also Carlo Gesualdo, who fled to the same city after killing his wife and her lover, whom he caught committing adultery red-handed. But he was a musician, not a painter or sculptor.

    Rome was where Caravaggio was living - he was born either in Caravaggio or Milan. 1606 was when he left Rome after killing Ranuccio Tomassino da Terni, the head of a rival gang. He didn't manage to get away with this one as he usually did and had to scarper.
