I have a feeling it is The Sky At Night, an astronomy show hosted by Sir Patrick Moor. It is at least the longest running show on the BBC. The first show aired in 1957 featuring the commet Arend-Roland.
A close second probably goes to Coronation Street, a British soap opera. It first aired in 1960, and is now on 4 days a week.
Does anyone have any older ones?
