More a sort of dark purple than real black - which usually only occurs in plants in berries. As a former fuchsia grower, I would've dearly loved to originate a yellow one. There seems to be no yellow anywhere in the genus. The related evening primroses are mostly yellow, but aren't closely enough related to cross them into the line. No-one's produced a truely deep blue rose yet.
