    The Italian phrase "Cavoli Riscaldati" literally means "reheated cabbage" but it is commonly used to describe what sort of action, and apart from the fact it is quite humerous, why do the Italians describe it in this way?

    		To try to revive an old love affair. I am not sure as to WHY it is decribed as reheated cabbage. Maybe I don't want to know...

    		Italians use the phrase "cavoli riscaldati" as a term to rivive an old love affair just as jaronzello says. They believe the concept is similar to reheated cabbage because the result of such a culinary effort is usually unworkable, messy and distasteful.
