    Do the numbers called out by the quarterback in the pre-hike signals refer to the numbers of the players involved in the play?

    		No it does not refer to the players' numbers, or the number of players involved.
    It's a code to let ALL the players involved know where they are supposed to go and what they are supposed to do. Least that was its original purpose. Today is mostly used to change the play from what it was originally supposed to be as called in the huddle.
