In German class this afternoon I read a phrase in German which translated to, "Don't play the injured liver sausage." What does it really mean, and how do you say it properly in German?

The German-English Dictionary of Idioms by Hans Schemann and Paul Knight defines “die beleidigte Leberwurst spielen” as “to be in a huff” or “to sulk.”
Your phrase would therefore be, in German “Spiel(e) nicht die beleidigte Leberwurst!”, or more formally “Spielen Sie nicht die beleidigte Leberwurst!”
“Beleidigte” is sometimes replaced by “gekränkte.”

Thankyou very much! I only saw it fleetingly is a very bizarre Agony Aunt page in a German magazine. Out tutor pointed it out becuase of it's weirdness, and never gave us a chance to write it down.
*uses it in essay about Die Sozialismus*
