On the back of a US dollar bill, what is the symbolism of the pyramid with the eye at its apex?

Question #52548. Asked by nutmeglad. (Nov 19 04 6:10 PM)

It's the all-seeing eye of the freemasons, said to represent the chief architect which is how they represent God. But how it got onto the Dollar Bill is probably a long story I'm not fully sure of.

The pyramid is incomplete, showing that much work was needed for the US.

On top of the incompleted section sits the symbol for God...the all seeing and knowing eye.
