They seem to have decided that Pluto IS a real planet and not just an object from the Kuiper Belt. The Spitzer telescope has been taking infrared images of some of the Kuiper Belt thingies, and they're nowhere near as big as people had thought. And nowhere near as big as Pluto, either.
