    "Long, long ago when the world was young, so goes the story, a mighty demon set about devouring everything in sight, causing great mayhem. Even the gods fled the scene, flocking to Lord Brahma, the creator of the universe, for help. He advised them to come together to hold the demon face down upon the ground. This was done, and the great demon was rendered helpless by the combined might of the gods. Lord Brahma then blessed the now powerless demon, saying he had been cleansed of evil and would henceforth have to serve mankind as the deity of all land on the face of the earth. Offerings would be made to him before any construction was undertaken. In return, it would be his duty to protect the health and welfare of the inhabitants of the dwellings constructed on the planet."
