In the States the day after Thanksgiving is known as Black Friday when mobs pack the cheesy malls and start purchasing their Christmas gifts. Black Friday is the biggest single retail profit day of the year. Is there anything similar in the UK?

In this neck of the woods, Boxing Day sales are the biggest retail day of the year. All department stores offer everything below half price. Not necessarily Boxing Day, although that's quite busy, the days between Christmas and new Year see the shops in a total frenzy with people returning their Christmas gifts and buying them back at a vastly reduced rate. The spending spree lasts for days and is best avoided. Nov 22 04, 5:12 PM
