    The state of New Hampshire is the first state in the US to have a female Governor, a female Senate President and a female House Speaker all at the same time. Governor Jeanne Shaheen, a Democrat, was elected New Hampshire's first female Governor in 1996. Representative Donna Sytek, a Republican, became the first woman to lead the House a month later.
