Shooting stars are not stars. They are lumps of rock burning up. Our sun is a star. It is a special one which has planets. We don't yet know whether all stars have their own planets, but quite a few of them do. Nov 30 04, 11:46 AM

Stars and nebulae aren't the same thing, either. A nebula is a cloud of gas and bits spread over quite a large area. Some can be seen as hazy patches of light, ohters as dark areas. Nov 30 04, 12:11 PM

But nebulae forms stars, right? I thought the gas and rock and dust particles were pulled together by gravitational attraction and then it becomes a star. Nov 30 04, 12:16 PM
