    How big are whales?

    Question #5285. Asked by Katherine.

    McGruff

The longest blue whale ever recorded was a 108-foot adult female caught in Antarctica. Whales vary in size depending on the species. The Blue Whale is the largest, reaching up to 100 feet in length and weighing more than 100 tons.

Not including dolphins, porpoises, or toothed whales, there are 11 types of baleen whales. Of these, the smallest is probably the pygmy right whale, which may only grow to be 20 feet long.
