Well, if you're referring to the American Chestnut tree, there is a biologist in Virginia who has succeeded in crossing the American Chestnut with the Asian Chestnut, and then picking out the offspring of the match who demonstrate the characteristics of the threatened American tree but which have the resistance to the blight (or whatever killed off most American chestnuts). He has got them in production now and is starting to plant them in the areas up and down the Eastern seaboard where they used to be so prevalent. So, if you're willing to wait a few generations, I'm sure you'll find chestnuts back in the USA again. Dec 04 04, 7:23 PM
