Who was the first person to officially run 100 metres in 9.9 seconds? According to the census bureau the US loses and gains population at this rate for a net gain of on person every 13 seconds. Every 8 seconds=1 birth. Every 12 seconds=1 death. Every 29 seconds=1 what? Who was the person on the cover of the first issue of Cosmopolitan magazine? Every few years, I hear about some new person who just broke the 100 meter record, from something like 10.01 seconds, to 9.89 seconds, to 9.77 seconds, to now 9.76 seconds. Is there a humanly possible limit to just how fast a human can run 100 meters, and could part of the record keeping be inaccurate due to the timing (of a hundredth of a second!)?
