Britain's version of trailer trash. Underclass peasants. They wear gaudy jewelry with name brand clothes.

Given what they can afford, I'm not sure they are quite the same as trailer trash. Still, you definitely have the essence and an example, Peasy, and get a designer yay.
The term seems to have started in Kent, deriving from a Romany word for child.
Recently, former Eastenders star, Daniella Westbrook eloquently argued "I am not a f***ing chav" after being photographed dressed head to toe in Burberry, with a baby under one arm and a fag in hand.
