    What word describes the apparent shifting of an object's position when viewed from different angles?

    Yep. Easiest one to observe is caused by the distance between your eyes. Close one eye and hold out your hand with a thumbs up. Align the thumb with something on the opposite wall. Open the eye and close the other one. Presto, the object hopped over a few inches (you know your thumb didn't move). Not really, the "observer" moved and it changed the angle.

    It's how we perceive depth and distance. Scientists also try to use it to measure the distance of some stars by observing the differences from opposite sides of the earth's orbit. Amazingly, it doesn't work for all that many because most are just soooo far away.

    Looking at our church's stained glass window mosaic through eyeglasses, keeping a focal point on the window and moving my head, I noticed certain colors of the window would move more than others, as if they were shifting out of position relative to the rest.
