I thought Christmas was only a day long, but the song "The Twelve Days of Christmas" seems too indicate it is longer. How long is Christmas?

The Christmas season is said to last twelve days from the 25th December, when we celebrate the birth of Jesus, to the 6th January when we celebrate the arrival of the three kings, or wise men, to visit the baby. This is called the Epiphany, and is the time when people take down their decorations and end their celebrations, although they're usually well over by then as most people return to work on the 2nd or 3rd of January after the long Christmas break.
