Twelfth Night is a Shakespeare play, in which women dress as men and men just get confused. Here's a brief run down.
Sebastian and Viola are stranded. They get seperated, and neither knows the other one is alive.
Viola dresses as a man, Cesario, in order to get a job from the count Orsino. Orsino begins to fall in love with Viola/Cesario, and wonders about his sexuality.
Viola runs errands for Orsino to the countess Olivia. Orsino loves Olivia, but Olivia begins to fall in love with Viola as Cesario. Orsino now loves Viola as Cesario, as does Olivia.
In the end, after an amusing plot involving Malvolio, Olivia's servant who had a crush on her, Sebastian, Viola's twin brother, appears on the scene. Viola reveals herself as a woman, Orsino falls in love with Viola, and Olivia falls in love with Sebastian thinking that he is Cesario/Viola.
What you will.

Having performed this play, I know that Twelfth Night has something to do with Christmas and all of its festivities and merry-making.
According to http://a.tribalfusion.com:
"January 5th is Twelfth Night:
Evening before Epiphany. Marks end of the 12-day season of Christmas festivities.
Children leave their shoes in front of the door to be filled with sweets. On the Twelfth
Night Christmas decorations are usually taken down. The eve of Epiphany is called
Twelfth Night, and the day itself is sometimes referred to as Twelfth Day.
January 6th is Twelfth Day:
The 12th day after Christmas, when the three Wise Men visited Jesus. Observed as
Christmas in Spain and as Befana Day in Italy. Also called Epiphany and Three Kings Day."
