The limit is however many languages there in the world - assuming we're talking about someone with intelligence. They've not found the limits of the brain yet in terms of acquiring knowledge. Nor are they quite sure about how many languages there are...

This man isn't doing too badly:
Ziad Fazah, who has been living in Brazil for 21 years, is fluent in 56 languages, winning him a mention in the Brazilian edition of the "Guinness World Book of Records" as the world's greatest living polyglot.

Well, the most languages spoken fluently by a single person to date is somewhere around 130, isn't it?
Reminds me of the late Yosef Burg, a linguist and rabbi here in Israel, who amazed many a person by his knowledge of every European tongue and many other dialects as well. These skills he would put to good use at international events, such as the finals of the Bible Quiz, which brings Jews from all over the world to this country on its day of independence.
