In the UK schools' programme in the 1970's Mike Grady (Barry in "Last of the Summer Wine") played a crook called Beasley who drove an old van and was always being pursued by or pursuing a bunch of children trying to stop his gang's crookery. What was the name of the programme?

I managed to dig it up in Yahoo, imdb only said it was selected highlights, this was actually the programme series 'Look and Read', the actual story being the 1973 'Joe and the Sheep Rustlers' http://www.lookandread.fsnet.co.uk/stories/joe/index.html
Apparently not just I am a fan, it appears to have a cult following. Why they seem to put more effort into many kid's programmes than adults is a mystery, and the good news I also discovered is after a 26 year break, they've been showing this again on the CBBC channel since last year. Those were the days!

There were loads of good "Look and Read" programmes which are always remembered fondly by those who watched them as they never seemed like work, despite there beings songs like "magic E" and "Why don't you build yourself a word?". What about Geordie Racer and Badger Girl? And there was one set in a fairground which was hugely popular, can't remember its name, but I bet there's someone out there who can...

It was called "Fairground"! There was also "Dark Towers", "Sky Hunter", "Earth Warp", "Through the Dragon's Eye", "Spywatch", "The Legend of the Lost Keys" and "The Boy from Space". Wordy Rules OK!
