The bassoon is indeed a larger (and taller) instrument, with tubing about three times the length of the English horn (the cor anglais). Indeed, the latter instrument is quite easy to hold and play while walking around, whereas the bassoon is a bulky instrument which one must sit down to play.

The cor anglais is also known as the English horn. There are four members of the double reed family. They are the bassoon, the contrabassoon, the oboe, and the English horn (or cor anglais). In order they go contrabassoon being the largest, bassoon, English horn, and oboe being the smallest. However, even the bassoon is considerably larger than the English horn, about 5 - 10 times bigger, actually. Perhaps even more. Therefore, the bassoon is larger than the cor anglais by a landslide!
