Why do we get scars?

I read an article that explained scars are a genetic fault. Technically there's no reason for a cut not to heal perfectly, but a mutation that became almost universal (and can be seen in keloids, which are exaggerated scars in some people with a higher level of scar creation) where cuts heal with a faulty tissue. They did find a few people who heal without scarring, plus I think young babies could heal without scarring. Genetic engineering and stem cell therapy should eventually switch off the scarring mutation and all our hard-earned marks will no longer be visible. Sorry I had no reference names here but it's pretty well as I read it.

You "heal" so fast that your body doesn't have time to reproduce the original pattern with hair and stuff... sort of like a hurried up job.
That's why kids scar more easily than adults. (they do it faster)
