    Also known as Red Shift in the remedial physics class I attend.

    The Red Shift is the way that the lines in light spectra given from stars and galaxies is shifted towards the red end of the spectrum because they are rapidly moving away from us.

    The Purkinje Effect, however, is more an optical phenomenon due to the way the human eye works.
