    What was the fastest production car made in 1972?

    		The fastest four-door production ever built was the Ford Falcon GT-HO Phase 4, at 175mph. Due to a public outcry at the time, the scheduled production run of 200 was stopped after 4 were built. One was written off in a rally, and the other 3 are still in existence. One of those 3 is owned by a dentist outside Sydney, who knocked back an offer of $0.25m in late 2003/early 2004. As all the parts for those 200 were ordered and produced, many "illegal" clones had surfaced by the mid-70s.

    The phase 3 has previously held the record (for a four-door) at 150mph.
