In 1962, Republic Steel of Cleveland Ohio suggested that the Steelers use the Steel Industry's logo, since they were, after all, the Steelers. They accept. The logo says 'Steel' on it, and matches the Industry logo exactly. It is only placed on the right side of the helmet. The Steelers finish 9-5, the best finish in team history. It is considered a good omen, and the logo stays on one side.
