    Many Native American languages are unwritten hence untranslated and survive only in spoken form.

    The language of Khazar (an empire which includes what is now the Caucas, Armenia, some of northeastern Turkey and a small part of Russia) remains untranslated to this day. The Khazar empire was most famous for having a ruler convert the entire people to Judaism. The empire remained powerful for about 500 years, and at its peak was the largest independent Jewish country in history (more populous than modern Israel by far). The Khazar language is closely connected to other Caucas languages, but a slightly different alphabet is used, and unfortunately no speakers of the language remain today.

    The Cretan Linear B was deciphered and turned out to be a form of Greek, but Linear A still remains incomprehensible. Likewise, the scripts of Harappa and Mohenjo-Daro are undecipherable. If the words of a language are found in a readable form, the meaning can often be made out. By the experts in linguistics, that is.
