I'd say Nepal, having read somewhere that it's the only country which has never been conquered or colonised by another country.

Nepal last changed its borders in 1816, when it signed the Sugauli treaty and gave up the Indian state of Sikhim and southern Terai. I don't know if there is a country having not changed its borders longer than this, but Nepal seems a contender.

San Marino has been the same since 300-350 CE both in borders and name. Liechtenstein can probably beat Nepal too, having been founded in 1719 - Nepal was founded in the last half of the 18th C. Oh, yes, and the Bailiwicks of Jersey and Guernsey have been around since the 11th C and haven't changed their borders more than a few inches.

Come to think of it Baloo, I'm sure I have heard the Most Serene Republic of San Marino described as the world's oldest republic so I'll second you on that one.
