How many places has pi been calculated to? How is it possible to determine the area of a circle, if Pi has been calculated to 1.24 trillion places (and counting) - surely the calculated area of the circle grows (albeit infinitesimally) every time the calculation of Pi is extended? What does pi equal? PI has now been calculated to 1.24 trillion places. Most people use 3.142 for decimal calculations, or 22/7 (3 and one seventh) as a vulgar or simple fraction. 22/7 = 3.142857.... but PI actually starts 3.1415926535. Now 355/113 = 3,14159292 . This makes 355/133 better to use than 22/7 The further you go, you come up with yet another fractional representation that is better than the last. Which fraction is nearest to the 1.24 trillion decimal placed PI ?
