No, not in the strictest sense. His ancestry is a bit dubious - even the spelling of Hitler is odd. There was possibly a Jewish ancestor at the great-grandparent level, but that doesn't make you Jewish. Except to a Nazi. The doubts seem to focus on Hitler's paternal grandfather, as Hitler's father was born illegitimate and therefore had to take his mother's family name, Schickelgruber. Rumours about Adolf Hitler's origins have circulated ever since he came to prominence (or earlier). Moreover, Hitler himself fuelled the rumours by banning investigations into his origins. The trouble is that the moment there's illegitimacy among the ancestors, there's usually more room for doubt than otherwise. Also, it is to be kept in mind that he was baptized as a Catholic. That is how he saw himself. Top ranking SS officers had to be able to prove that they came from a full Aryian line for at least 10 generations (back to 1750). Some of these records I'm sure were fabricated (my family tree extends about 6 generations on either side), but it brings to mind the fact that, if Hitler had any genetic connection to Jews, he would not have recognized them even under the most flawless microscope.
