Thanks Stew, most web-sites claim it was "Houston", possibly because of the publicity gained by that Texas town. I'd read somewhere else that it was actually "Okay", but it seems both were incorrect.
I assume the first words spoken from the actual surface of the moon, rather from inside the lunar lander, was the famous sentence by Neil Armstrong, "That's one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind."
