"Why Am I Me?" is from the musical "Shenandoah" sung by the characters Boy and Gabriel. I'm not finding anything about a television program, but it could possibly have been the 1975 Broadway cast, which would have been Joseph Shapiro as Robert "the boy" and Chip Ford as Gabriel.
