At the time the stories were written, the highest number in Baker Street was 85. In 1921 York Place was incorporated with Baker Street and in 1930 Upper Baker Street was merged with Baker Street and the entire street was renumbered on the west from 185 to 247. For the first time there was a No. 221 Baker Street. Today the space where 221b should be is occupied by the Abbey Bank which incorporates the street numbers from 217 - 229. There is a museum in Baker Street, but this is located at number 237. http://www22.brinkster.com/paradio/pages2/sherlock.htm
