Which King was in the first Australian cricket side to tour England and why was the tour not officially recognised back home?

King Cole.
The first Australian side to tour England was an aboriginal squad who came over in 1868. The players were given nicknames (including King Cole), presumably on the assumption that the English would be unable or unwilling to come to grips with their real names.
The tour matches are not considered first-class in either country because they don't meet the cricket authorities' criteria.
King Cole died of pneumonia in England: he is buried, if I remember correctly, in Meath Gardens in the East End of London.

Yay TT! Although the racism prevalent at the time seems to have been the primary reason for their lack of recognition according to a few sites.
The star player was known as Dick-a-Dick and his boomerang can still be seen at Lords:
