Why might British politics be different if it wasn't for Coronation Street's Elsie Tanner?

The actress who played Elsie Tanner, Patricia Phoenix became Cherie Blair's stepmother and was (for a short time before she died in 1986) Tony B's mother-in-law. In the days when she was still just Cherie's dad's girlfriend, in 1983, she campaigned with the Blairs and (being then a big TV star) helped get him elected to the then newly-created constituency of Sedgefield, which he has represented ever since.

I'm being a bit Anglocentric there. Nake that British politics.

Yay Stew! After losing his deposit in his previous bi-election he rose Phoenix-like. I'll reserve political judgment on the general effect of all this.

And that "Nake" posting was made about 20 hours ago. What's it doing there?
