Has the ancient dye 'indigo' ever had any medicinal properties or uses?

Question #55755. Asked by picqero. (Mar 08 05 6:03 AM)

It seems indigo has been and may still be used in various parts of the world for several purposes, including as an emetic, pain reliever, fever reducer, etc. Also seems it's important to make sure you're using the proper variety of indigo, as it can be lethal otherwise.

It rubs off on more than your upholstery Flynn. Try rubbing it on your face as one of my grandchildren's classmates did recently!

Yup. And don't sit on good furniture while you're using it for an emetic.
