    I think GM means the last one to go climbing up the chimneys, like Tom in the Water Babies.

    Sorry. Yes, I did mean chimney-boy rather than chimney-sweep. Anyway I do have part of the answer to this and am waiting for someone to get that and hopefully fill in the gaps.
