An Irishman built up the world's largest farm and had sold it all again before he died in 1919. Who was he, where was the farm and what were his two inventions?

Some easy points available here as I've just tried Googling it myself.

Yeeha Peasy!
I thought I'd ask a question about a great Irishman as it was St Patrick's Day but I'd almost forgotten about it.
As your site points out, Sir Samuel McCaughley not only bought and sold 4 million acres, but invented at least two devices for arable farming but also improved irrigation techniques and sheep farming methods.
I think he even had something to do with the founding of Qantas.
I'll add a sprig of shamrock to your Black Forest Gateau and don't tell everyone but I'll even throw in some poteen to drink with it.

Almost forgotton about it? Yeah right. Admit it, it had totally escaped from existance in your mind, and since it's rather difficult to trace old questions these days....
Actually, I found it when sifting through your oldies looking for that world cities one, which, I might add, has not jumped out and smooched me yet.
Thanks for the torta, gmack, it'll go nicely with my peppermint tea I'm sipping...
