I believe you've either misread this or looked at a typo, as the nomenclature is 'swash' plate, a part of a rotary wing aircraft mechanical assembly that effects main rotor blade pitch. Another control, called the collective, controls engine power, which is directly proportional to the pitch of the blades--more pitch/more power and vice versa. The cyclic controls what's called the tip-path plane of the main rotors as they spin--imagine a spinning dinner plate on top of a stick.
