    Why does scratching feel so good? Seriously.

    		It stimulates nerve endings and clears away foreign bodies such as fleas that may be contaminating the upper layer of skin, so reducing irritation.
    It feels less good if the irritation doesn't go away, e.g. during a rash or while wearing a scratchy shirt.
