What lake has the highest clarity in the world according to Secchi disc readings?

    Question #56134. Asked by dejavucub4. (Mar 23 05 4:21 PM)

Ditto.... Crater Lake in Oregon. "Investigators have taken hundreds of readings using a standard black and white Secchi disk to measure water clarity; the deepest reading, taken in June 1997, was a staggering 139 feet (42 m)."

Right again Aard88. With no rivers or streams of significance entering Crater Lake the amount of sediments entering the lake are allmost nill.Plus the lack of human population in the area keeps the 500+ average inches of snow that feeds the lake pristine.
