Why is Wales called Wales?

It's not really. It's called Cymru by the people who live there. Sort of like Spain actually being called EspaƱa.

It's called Wales because they're all foreigners there. Or so the Saxons etc thought. Some places called Walton have same origins. The French call it Pays de Galles, which is a bit odd, because they weren't Gauls but Britons.

Wales was a Celtic domain after the invasion of the Anglo-Saxons. Gaul was also Celtic, so that explains the connection.
