In which town is an Easter tradition said to have been the result of a hare saving a woman from a bull by crossing its path? What exactly happens at this event?

    Question #56209. Asked by gmackematix.

    SOTHC

In Hallaton in Leicestershire a woman was saved from a charging bull by a hare running across its path. She thanked the hare by killing it and making a hare pie which was given to the locals. Now the hare has been replaced by beef, but the pie is still given to the locals, indeed it is scattered over Hare-Pie Bank and the locals fight for it. Afterwards there is a football match between the two parishes of Hallaton and Melbourne using three small beer barrels as balls. http://web.ukonline.co.uk/conker/conkers-and-ghosts/april.htm

The Equality Steamship Company is famous for the unfailing punctuality of its sailings. Every day at noon, Greenwich time, one of its liners leaves Southampton for New York and exactly at the same hour another boat sails from New York to Southampton. The crossing takes seven days, and the eastbound and westbound liners ply the same course. If we board such a vessel at Southampton, how many Equality ships do we meet during our voyage to New York?
